Now you can find a bowl of porridge that’s “just right”, as Goldilocks would say. Anna Campbell is dishing up the perfect bowl of oats from her cute café in Cuba Street’s Left Bank.
The Oatery started its life as a food truck, with regular spots at markets around Wellington to fuel locals for their day. Recognising the potential in what was once the bathrooms of a popular bar, Anna transformed The Oatery’s permanent home into a bright and airy space to kick off the day.
The menu is modest and fresh. There are, of course, oats, served whatever way you like them — including porridge, bircher, and granola — all made in-house. Delicious toppings like peanut butter, fresh fruit, nuts, and compote will challenge any ideas that porridge is “boring”.
If you don’t fancy yourself a bowl of oats for brekkie, there’s toast with both sweet and savoury toppings. The Oatery’s bread comes from Wellington Sourdough just a few metres down the alley, so you know it’s as fresh as can be.
It wouldn’t be a Wellington café without some excellent coffee on offer, and The Oatery delivers. Serving locally roasted Coffee Supreme beans, it’s the perfect accompaniment to your hot bowl of oats or drink on the go with your bag of take-home granola.
