5 Eva Street, Te Aro, Wellington
Wellington Chocolate Factory (WCF) produces small batch, bean-to-bar chocolate. With ethically traded cocoa at the heart of their creations, it’s a treat that’s just as good for the planet as it is for the palate.
Step into the Eva Street factory and you’ll feel like you’ve found your very own golden ticket. Willy Wonka, eat your heart out. This chocolate paradise lifts the curtain on the bean-to-bar process. Large windows provide a peek into the factory as the team makes their award-winning bars.
If you want to get hands-on and immerse yourself in the world of chocolate making, take a factory tour. You’ll learn all about how WCF hand-sorts and grind its cocoa beans. See the tempering process and the final magic touch of wrapping each bar in beautiful designs from local artists.
Once you know all there is to know, then comes the fun part: making your own. Expert chocolatiers will guide you through the process of making your very own chocolate bars to take home (if they last that long). Pick your base and go wild with flavour creations. There are ingredients galore to choose from. Nuts, honeycomb, or freeze-dried berries? The only limit is your imagination.
If there’s not enough time for a tour, don’t leave without trying one of the hot chocolates. Made from melted-down chocolate bars and your choice of milk, they feel like a delicious, warm hug. Round out your drink with a cookie or brownie, and don’t forget a bar (or two) to take home.
